Vive Bene (Live well) aptly sums up Kitchen Antics Tuscan Adventure Tours....
Kitchen Antics Tours, a business that originally began trading as a cooking school in 1997, has expanded to operating small group tours in Italy. The tours are designed specifically to include a variety of activities within a commutable distance from the accommodation. The groups are small and intimate and KAT team pride themselves in looking after their clients, ensuring that the pace is not too hectic and that they concentrate on one region of Italy at a time and do it well. The tours are definitely not a ten countries in ten days affair! The itinerary ensures that there is minimal moving, thus less unpacking and more time for relaxing and enjoying the sights.
Think of it. Casually swanning around Tuscany, shepherded by seasoned travelers and chefs of Kitchen Antics Tours. The stress of a self drive or public transport holiday is alleviated by the tour leaders taking charge of the transport, navigation, reservations and translation. The tour leaders will also cook scrumptious dinners with local ingredients and entertain you. What more could you want?
The tours are thoroughly researched and tested so travelers make the most use of their time in Italy. Leisure time can be spent independently of the group or with the tour leaders.
Visits to historic hilltop towns, cooking classes with local chefs in their own villas, olive oil and pecorino cheese tasting with producers, a tour and lunch of the world renowned wineries of Avigonese and Badia a Coltibuono, to return every afternoon to a picturesque Villa situated amongst vineyards and olive groves.
Other activities?
There are plenty of opportunities to be taken. A garden tour of one of Tuscany's most famous estates, La Foce, a guided walking tour of the stunning town of Montepulciano and the opportunity to cycle on the massive medieval walls surrounding Lucca. And if that’s not enough to keep you busy you can have a therapeutic swim in a scenic thermal pool overlooking an ancient valley after lunch at Bagno Vignoni.
Although essentially a tour based in rural Tuscany, an overnight stay in Florence provides an essential designer shopping fix, or alternatively the opportunity to visit some of Florence's major sights. Rome provides the start and finish flags to this feast of Tuscan experiences.
KA tours are ideal for people with an interest in Italian food, wine, gardens, sightseeing, shopping and the countryside. Dining together as a small group either at the villa, in a restaurant or as part of a cooking class provides variety and of course the group is never short on conversation.
Inspired by the success of the Tuscan tours and the enthusiasm of their clients, directors Susan Williams and Max Paganoni are in their second year of hosting expanded tours to Sicily. Plans are afoot for next year to lasso Northern Italy, incorporating the fashion capital of Europe, Milan.
KA Tours run for an average of 14 days during the European Spring, and early Autumn.
